Northeast Calgary community guide / Temple
Temple is an established Northeast Calgary neighbourhood with residential streets, a community hall and outdoor recreation facilities. Developed from 1977, it belongs to the group of communities historically called the Properties. A useful home search here starts with the daily routine you want, then compares the condition and layout of individual homes.
The Temple Community Association directory identifies boundaries at McKnight Boulevard, 68 Street, 32 Avenue and 52 Street NE. A property’s position within that area affects your routes to work, shopping and transit. Visit the streets around a listing and consider both the convenience of major roads and the experience of living near them.
The community association is based at 167 Templegreen Road NE. Its facilities include outdoor recreation spaces, with tennis, skating and basketball described in the Federation directory. Use the Temple community website to confirm current access, seasonal conditions and program information. Nearby Village Square Leisure Centre provides another recreation option to investigate.
Compare the walk to your bus stop, the connection to rail where needed, and the journey home. A listing’s location in Northeast Calgary does not by itself tell you how easy your particular commute will be. Try the journey at your normal travel time and check whether the route also works for evening activities or weekend errands.
When comparing established homes, ask which improvements were made and what remains to be done. Check storage, basement layout, outdoor space and parking before focusing on decor. Major systems and the quality of renovations can make similarly sized homes very different purchases. Include condominium fees and the division of maintenance responsibilities if a condo is on your shortlist.
Use the CBE school finder and confirm your address, grade and program with the relevant school board. A nearby school does not guarantee designation or available space.
That depends on whether you would use its facilities and programs. Walk the route, check current activities and consider the surrounding street at different times.
Ask when the work was completed, who performed it and what records are available. A professional inspection can help you assess condition beyond the visible finishes.
Compare Pineridge and Whitehorn as part of an established-neighbourhood shortlist. Compare similar home types, condition and total monthly costs, then test the trips you make most often.
